The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover (read the article) can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Check your robot cleaner's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot vacuum cleaner on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
