WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level upgrade level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item upgrading, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with the help of button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same Best item upgrade level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item upgrader kit level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
