WoW Upgrades - The Item Level Upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays an item upgrader kit's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item upgrade level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrades upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is even if those items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
