The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris, and wash them when needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning robot mop and vacuum device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
