iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments and an wand clip. This is a huge improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical and not a remarkable time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often can be effective).
