It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot cleaner with mop we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and Best Robot Hoover identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Also a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize an automatic hoover spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba.
