Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade items, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive, and it is possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate possibility of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.

It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing Glyphs Glyph will boost all nodes connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item it will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can increase in price even if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can waste many resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. The item level upgrade can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is very valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded version.

Requirements

The item upgrader allows players to raise the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the item upgrader mod, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go over the maximum number of upgrades. If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For example, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
