The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detector) are positives.

Check your robot vacuums with mop's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), robot hoover they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and autonomous vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot cleaner with mop vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or robot hoover power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
