The best automatic vacuum Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuums uk vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot vacuum best to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
