The Best Robot Hoover

The best robotic mop and vacuum robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robot vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuums that mop uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the autonomous vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the amount of dirt they are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
