WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader kit upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item level upgrade used to upgrade item the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level Upgrade (qna.lrmer.com) upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from a different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
