1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It may be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its auto vacuum cleaner-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin, which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large dust or crumbs. It has three suction modes to match the task being performed. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to automatic floor vacuum.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and the Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical and not a remarkable run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). However, this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our tests, and often goes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's no surprise, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app provides a range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and more. The app is easy to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a problem for certain shoppers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum cleaner automatic vacuum cleaner. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you to monitor your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They have a wider cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. Plus, they include two side sweepers to clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level according to whether it's cleaning up dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also has an app that allows you to view an interactive map, control functions, and create schedules. Additionally, you can track the battery's status and send it back to its dock to charge by pressing the button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it has gotten stuck.
The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot if needed. My living room rug for instance is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the edge. Also, the ability to program the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
