WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item level upgrade that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item level upgrade and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade item costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item Level upgrade upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true even if the items come from another set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade items for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
