The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum cleaner hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot vacuums that mop's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot cleaner vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robot mop vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
