The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we test. It may be stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. In our tests, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin which removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room and vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
