Technology Is Making Item Upgrade Better Or Worse
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade item increases the level of an item Level Upgrade by 3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item level upgrade that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
You can upgrade item your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
