The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot vacuum cleaners best for hair that is tangled and large particles and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models this robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum reviews that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot cleaner with mop we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
