Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to decrease the frequency of hoovering manually. Find one that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that requires emptying only every few times.
There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature essential for families with pets or children. The top Rated robot vacuum performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it might encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is low it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or via the app.
In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then releases fresh air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to match the task at hand. It can quickly change from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments as well as an handheld. This is a big improvement over the older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is enough time to clean the typical home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second pass usually works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that is seen on a variety of electronic gadgets for your home It's no surprise that they're one of the most popular mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic hoovers cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried which could be a deterrent for some buyers.
The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature allows you to check in on your children or pets when you are away. The filter and the dust bin are washable for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an best automatic floor cleaner clean station which helps to keep the best robot cleaner's bin clear and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They come with a wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the area clear for maximum runtime. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is picking up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map, and control functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the battery's status and then return it to its dock for charging at the touch of one button. The app also allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can easily tell which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually should you need to. For example, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
