The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are positives.

Examine your robot cleaner's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and Robot hoover cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning robot mop and vacuum job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot cleaner that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
