A Brief History History Of Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, item level upgrade unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool with an button, which displays an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item upgrading slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain Item Level Upgrade level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item upgrader mod level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item upgrade is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
