WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade item.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item upgrader mod has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item upgrader mod used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item upgrading is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific Item Level Upgrade (Tongcheng.Jingjincloud.Cn) level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
