The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover (how you can help) can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair that is tangled and large particles and wash them if required. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, robot hoover a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum reviews uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
