15 Reasons Why You Shouldn t Ignore Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an Item level upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade items cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item upgrading that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade item level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade item their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best gear you have available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
