Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile item upgrader mod Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of damage and more AD or even more affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than it was before.
There are several different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different effect. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade the item can receive, as shown below.
Some upgrades are magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant improvements in stats and are definitely worth the cost.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it can also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The defensive boost gained typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade to apply. They can be obtained by doing side quests, or taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until you reached a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear that has low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater likelihood of granting you highest tier blessings and perks.
To increase their level faster, many players be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when accompanied with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects in armor and weapons. They can be created through the process of jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gemstone and a number of specific chemicals at a table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the tier the jewel is in when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons or gear.
The Jeweler can craft all kinds of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones which you must be at a certain level to get. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out by a different jewel of the same type without destroying it. You can only replace the gem once in an item upgrader kit of equipment.
It is common to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades additionally, players can get glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost in power and can be swapped, but they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that provide many tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and through completing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active even when the character is not in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the lack of a strong team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item upgrader kit to be upgraded. This is especially true when you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It's better to upgrade one important stat instead of two subpar ones.
At the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and mid players usually choose a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
