The 10 Scariest Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
item upgrades upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.
In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the required component or material needed to make that happen.
There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For example adding the suffix Glyph could transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
Once an item has been leveled out, it will be capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the item's base. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the choice to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.
To measure the height of a building, engineers will use a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade items components of an item. It is a very important part of the game and can improve the damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this via the item level upgrade menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item upgrader. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the level of filling.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added into the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.
The game also includes number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is a great way to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to a more powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in different ways. They can have different sizes, contain no elements at all, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have a lot of armor pieces or weapons.
Certain set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs, which can be particularly useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item level upgrade's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternately, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
