Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with a default Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to boost the luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. All items have an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
