The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good robot vacuum, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro).
