It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and best robot hoover has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot cleaner with mop vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice commands.
