A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only every few times.

There are models that can mop and charge on their own which can be important for people with children or pets. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent alternative for those who want a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the Wand clip. This is a big improvement over the older Dysons, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size but not long enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top Rated robot vacuum picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently will run out of battery before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better move itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled by the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot sweeper vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and much more. The app is simple to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for some buyers.

The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be washed for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that self-empties and helps keep the robot vacuum cleaner industrial's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker robot vac Vacuum

In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This lets them clean the area for a longer period of time. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean along edges and corners. The app allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily tell which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for example is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots.
