It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro).
